Mango wood and acacia wood are the two most common solid woods in furniture exported from Jodhpur. Both are hardwoods, both take a wide range of finishes and both are used across sideboards, tables and storage. The differences matter when you plan a range, a price point and a shipping budget.

Appearance
Mango wood has a comparatively even surface that accepts colour predictably, which is why it dominates painted, greyed and light-finish ranges. Acacia shows a lively grain with contrast between heartwood and sapwood; it is the choice when the wood itself is the design feature.
Weight, durability and shipping
Acacia is harder and heavier. It resists daily wear well, which suits dining tables and tops, but it adds weight to a container and to parcel shipping for ecommerce. Mango wood is strong enough for case goods and keeps freight cost down; its performance depends on proper seasoning and construction, which we check before packing.
Finishes and consistency
Both woods vary naturally from board to board. We approve colour on a physical finish sample and discuss how variation will be managed across a production run. Browse the wood finish references for both species.
Which should you source?
- Choose mango wood for decorative sideboards, carved and fluted fronts, painted finishes and value-led ranges.
- Choose acacia wood for dining tables, tops and pieces sold on durability and grain.
- Combine both in one collection with a shared finish direction, which many importers do to cover several price points.
